Great ideas to add to your bucket list

If you are amongst the fortunate ones who get to spend Christmas or welcome the New Year in Gran Canaria, there are least a couple of wishes you have to add to your bucket list of things to do while enjoying life in this gorgeous island.

The very first one is exploring its beautiful coastline and specially its amazing cliffs around Mogan. The west side of the island provides the perfect setting for a coasteering adventure, suitable for everyone in the group. If you’ve never tried coasteering before, you will find that it is a great way of discovering some of the hidden corners of the island. With the right equipment and the guidance of an experienced guide, you will explore caves, climb cliffs, feel the thrill of jumping into the water and experience the excitement of wild swimming in the Atlantic Ocean.

The second one is diving in the marine reserve of El Cabron. With impressive volcanic rock formations, rugged rocky entries, caves, caverns, volcanic sand, and deep blue water, the marine reserve of El Cabron should be on the bucket list for any scuba diver looking to dive in Europe. This hidden gem of a dive site is located off the beaten track, on the East coast of Gran Canaria in the small town of Arinaga. Specifically, the marine reserve stretches from Punta de la Sal to Punta de la Monja. Our member Leagues Diving has a great blog entry in their site where you can learn much more about this fantastic place.

If you have never dived before, you can get a taste for the submarine world and what if feels like to breath underwater through the many Discover Scuba Diving experiences offered in different locations along the island. Warning: there is a real risk that you might fall in love with diving and decide to join a PADI Open Water course to get your diving certificate. No problem, plenty of options available!

If you are not too fond of the idea of diving but still would like to explore the underwater realm, another great option is joining a snorkelling tour with a tour guide, so you too can indulge in admiring the underwater landscapes of the island. Snorkeling is a fantastic way of learning about the local marine life and observing the marine realm in a very relaxed and comfortable way.

So there is really no excuse to make this a merry, blue Christmas!

If you would like us to help you with arrangements for any of the above, we’d love to hear from you. Happy Holidays!
