Risso's dolphins (Grampus griseus) are poorly studied in the Mediterranean Sea, mainly because they live associated to deep areas, usually far from the coast. The underwater canyons of Maresme and Palamos are relatively close to the coast of Barcelona, and seem to have an important population of this species.
The aim of this project is to study this population of Risso's dolphin and assess its conservation status. This is accomplished through study trips on board a vessel with a research crew and a hydrophone, through information on sightings made by a network of collaborator sailors and through questionnaires made to fishermen.
