Brings you the best marine ecotourism experiences in Europe

Occupying most of the central and east Finland, Lakeland is the largest of the four main regions into which the country is divided. This region is full of lakes, islands, rivers and canals, interspersed with forests and ridges, extending placidly for hundreds of kilometers. One of the lakes found in this region is Lake Saimaa, the largest natural freshwater lake in Finland and the fourth largest in Europe.

Even though this is not a coastal region, it offers the breath-taking opportunity of seeing the Saimaa Ringed Seal, a freshwater seal which lives in Lake Saimaa only and is one of the most endangered seals in the world.
