Welcome to Iceland’s whale-watching capital, Húsavík, which is also considered one of the prettiest fishing towns of the country. From here you can sail into the sea to watch minke, blue and humpback whales, orcas, white-beaked dolphins or porpoises.
If you are more of a bird-watching person, you can find one of Iceland’s most accessible places for up-close viewing of nesting puffins close nearby, at the small hamlet of Borgarfjörður Eystri. Add the country’s largest forest, picturesque fjords between smooth hills, and you have Northeast Iceland. There’s even a mysterious lake monster in Lagarfljot. And you haven’t been there yet!?
