Have you a sense of adventure, a passion for the ocean and a yearning not just to see whales, but to truly experience them? Colin Barnes has over 40 years experience observing whales along these biologically rich waters. His international reputation for finding whales has featured extensively on Irish and UK wildlife documentaries, publications and scientific literature. His extensive knowledge of and passion for the local marine ecology, combine with his legendary boat-handling skills, to provide both wildlife enthusiast and visitor alike with an opportunity to experience the very best whale watching in Irish waters and beyond.

We look forward to sharing our passion with you. Colin Barnes reads the sea, not the manual. All trips depart from tranquil Reen Pier which is just a 5 minute drive outside Union Hall village in West Cork.

All participants should dress appropriately for weather conditions in the North Atlantic, but note that we only run trips when sea conditions are at least reasonable. Our boat the MV Holly Jo is a stable and comfortable craft with a plenty of room in the wheelhouse for shelter during inclement weather and has a toilet. Access to the boat is via a ladder from the pier onto the boat.

All trips are a minimum of 4 hours duration, often longer.

All bookings need to be re-confirmed by you two days before your sailing date, when we can confirm weather suitability etc.
