Join us on a 6-day unique diving & marine adventure holiday in Donegal and discover wildest landscapes of Ireland and one of the landmark destinations of the WAOH! Route. Donegal boasts an impressive and rich variety of marine life both above and below the water, from sea birds to cetaceans, seals, grass colonies and algae forests.
Located in the northwestern part of Ireland, County Donegal is the northernmost part of the WILDSEA Atlantic Ocean Heritage Route and boasts the longest coast in the country. The Atlantic Ocean has carved this coast into a dramatic backdrop of headlands, bays, cliffs, islands and inlets. South of the county, the sea cliffs of Sliabh Liag (Slieve League) are among the highest in Europe, reaching 601 m.
We have put together an amazing program of activities so that you can experience Donegal's marine jewels during your holidays. The package includes 5-night accommodation in Bed & Breakfasts (double room) and the WAOH! Route Passport for an experience worthy of note! Here's a hint of the daily program for your holidays (please note that the order of the activities may vary depending on the weather and sea conditions):
Day 1: Welcome to Donegal!
On the day of your arrival, a transfer service will be waiting for you in Letterkenny to drive you to your Bed & Breakfast.
Day 2: Get ready to dive the Great Barrier Reef of Europe
In Donegal there are many beautiful scenic and coastal dives, fantastic for all levels of diving experience, with good visibility and a lot of fascinating marine life: keep an eye on seals and dolphins, which are often seen during dives. St John's Point, in the north of Donegal Bay, is an easily accessible coral reef and is particularly good for marine life - it is known as the Great Barrier Reef of Europe.
Day 3: Sea kayaking/boat tour/sea stack climbing: Choose your favorite!
Besides diving, there are plenty of opportunities to observe wildlife from sea and to appreciate the wild and rugged beauty of the Atlantic coast of Donegal. For the best kayak experience, Donegal Bay is a popular place, with magnificent views of the coast and towards Sligo County. Or if you want an even greater challenge, you can test your ability to climb sea stacks with a professional Guide.
Day 4: Dive in Massmount Reef
In Donegal there are dive sites accessible all year round with an extraordinary flora and a varied fish fauna, such as at the Massmount Reef. Enjoy an enchanting shore dive (depth 7–20 m) with amazing plants and fish. A dive for newly qualified divers and also for experienced divers.
Day 5: Walking tour or a local experience: explore Donegal county
Besides water activities, Donegal offers impressive coastal walks with some great birdlife spotting opportunities. We will take you on a guided walking tour around Malin Head, Ireland's most northernly point with stunning views all around. On our way back we will stop in Inishowen's Maritime Museum to learn more about Donegal's most popular guest: the basking shark.
Day 6: Bye bye Donegal
We will take you to the airport for your flight back home. We hope you will come back soon to keep exploring the Coolest Place on Earth.
After your holidays, you will be eager to explore other destinations along the WAOH! Route. And you will have earned a 10% discount on your next trip to any of the WAOH! Route destinations!
