What to expect?

Sea Stack Climbing in Ireland

Imagine descending 250m sea cliffs to arrive at outstandingly beautiful storm beaches in the most remote and atmospheric locations in Ireland. We launch from the shore to cross open ocean to land at the bases of towering monsters of immaculate rock. We then climb these towers of rock to arrive on pristine pinpoint summits far from anywhere in the real world. Standing on a pinpoint summit over 100m above the ocean, 500m from the nearest point of land and 20KM from the nearest main road can easily be described as a truly spiritual experience.

Since 2007 we have been exploring the sea stacks of County Donegal, we have currently climbed over 60 previously unclimbed sea stacks in the county and recorded over 150 new routes on the Donegal's Sea Stacks. During these adventures we have seen first hand the true beauty of these little known places in Ireland. Download the free guidebook at Donegal Sea Stack Guidebook and visit the On-line Donegal Guide. We have developed a unique collection of sea stack climbing packages from near coastal single pitch routes through a vast array of adventurous days out to the most adventurous, remote and atmospheric rock climbs in Ireland. We will take you to places that you will not believe existed so close to home!

Donegal Sea Stack climbing is the most adventurous commercially available activity in Ireland and we are the the only people who provide this unique service. What we guarantee you is a day out you will never forget in places you never knew existed.

Climbing Tor na Dhumhchna Sea Stack at Glasha with Iain was an unforgettable experience. I've never climbed before and didn't quite know what to expect but I must say, it was way beyond any expectations!!! Iain is an excellent and a very professional guide who makes sure you have the best experience possible. He's very reassuring and makes you feel very safe. There is no sense of rush at any point. He explains everything in a very relaxed manner how to do things and also the reason why, which really helped considering everything was new to me. And when I really got stuck not knowing where to place my foot next :-) he would talk me through every single move and piece of rock formation good to stand on or hold on to. We were out for about 4 hours, did 2 different climbs and I loved every single minute of it. Definitely take your camera with you but if you forget - don't worry, Iain has his own camera and will take tonnes of photos of you during the climb. It's a really exhilarating experience. It challenges you, pushes your limits and gives you an enormous sense of achievement. Standing on the summit couldn't be more rewarding. The views are to die for and all you are surrounded by is the sound of waves crashing against the rocks. I couldn't have wished for a better day out. Thank you Iain. I will be back :-) - Jayne (USA)
