Séamus Doohan is a Qualified Walking Group instructor and a vastly experienced hill walker with Walking Donegal. He has always held a passion for the great outdoors and at a young age he learnt basic outdoor skills with the local sea scouts.
Séamus was a member of the Irish Defence Forces for 5 years and advanced his navigation and hill walking skills at summer training camps in the Wicklow mountains. He has honed these skills through regular jaunts into the hills and along the coast. He is an active member of the North West Mountaineering Club and is currently a training officer with the club. He continuously upgrades his skills and has retained his thirst for knowledge for the outdoors and for outdoor activity. On the wet side of things, Séamus enjoys snorkelling and is a keen surfer (Donegal has some great surfing beaches).
As well as making sure your walk is both pleasurable and enjoyable, Seamus wants to ensure you gain an authentic experience of Donegal. Seamus has a thorough knowledge of the rich culture and unique history of the region. He can tell you about the place names and landmarks we come across during the walk, and share stories, history, mythology, social history and folklore that relate to them. You can learn a bit about the locality, and there is sure to be a few local anecdotes and yarns thrown in. You can even learn a cúpla focal Gaeilge!
