Nature is just everywhere if you visit this part of Wales, where a perfect combination of spectacular coastline, rural landscapes and civilization coexist. Best known for its gorgeous scenery, the West coast is home to some of the most well-preserved pieces of nature in Europe, including UK’s only coastal National Park: Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. If you are a true nature enthusiast, you cannot miss a visit there or to any of the many other nature must-see stunning beaches such as Three Cliffs Bay, Rhossilli (a surfers' favourite and voted as the top beach in UK, Europe's third best beach and in the top 10 list of best beaches worldwide!) and Oxwich Bay in the Gower Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (the first AONB ever!); or any of the three golden-sand Blue Flag Beaches in the gorgeous Tenby.
Enjoy some of the best wildlife-watching in the country along the Pembrokeshire Coast, where you might be lucky to spot Blue whales and Risso dolphins, or even bottlenose dolphins and harbour porpoises from the coast while coasteering (actually a sport founded in Wales), kayaking, sailing or caving! Take a boat trip around offshore islands of Ramsey and Skomer where you will be amazed by the huge colony of grey seals, and if you are a bird lover make sure you make the most of a chance to do some great photography on the largest population of Atlantic Puffin in the UK (around 10,000 breeding pairs in Skomer island)! Skokholm island is also a must as it is famous for its bird watching observatory, and make sure you don't miss Grassholm island's famous Northern Gannet colony.
Explore the region's history visiting the castles of the Pembroke town fort, Manorbier or the ruins of Carreg Cennen (don't miss a dungeon expedition by torchlight for those brave enough!). Visit the National Botanic Garden of Wales and check out Britain's smallest city St Davids, where you will also find a must for all geology enthusiast: some of the oldest exposed rocks on the planet around St David’s Head.
And of course, if you are a Harry Potter fan you will probably like to take some pictures while enjoying a nice walk at the filming location in Freshwater West beach!
