Kayaking is a beautiful way to experience the full moon in its prime, and as the evenings gets longer and, dare we say it, warmer, the occasion is all the more accessible to all abilities. In our stable double sea kayaks, you and a friend, child (over 10’s) or partner can relax and enjoy the moon rising over the city of Derry-Londonderry in our celebrated Moonlight Kayak.

Moonlight kayaking or Moonlit Paddles have become popular in locations throughout the world where there is a river through a principal city. Derry-Londonderry provides a superb riverine journey through two of the city’s famous bridges: the Craigavon Bridge and the Peace Bridge. An ideal mini-trip for beginners or improving kayakers- if you have been out once or twice before- and for visitors to Derry-Londonderry wishing to see the city from a fresh perspective. The River Foyle is one of the north west of Ireland’s biggest and most diverse river systems, managed by the cross-border Loughs Agency. Diverse in its marine life and culture, it is a growing visitor attraction and feature of tourism in Ireland.

I was really excited about going kayaking and potentially spotting some meteors, though really, I had very little idea what to expect. I knew it would be good, but I couldn’t have imagined it would be this fantastic. The team were really helpful and drew our attention to loads of different points of interest. The nature surrounding us – from the sunset in the sky, to the river, the estuary and the night sky – they were the real highlights. It was utterly unforgettable, and to see some meteors felt simply unbelievable. I would do it again in a heartbeat, and it was undoubtedly the highlight of my 2017 so far. HIGHLY recommend!

I was really excited about going kayaking and potentially spotting some meteors, though really, I had very little idea what to expect. I knew it would be good, but I couldn’t have imagined it would be this fantastic. The team were really helpful and drew our attention to loads of different points of interest. The nature surrounding us – from the sunset in the sky, to the river, the estuary and the night sky – they were the real highlights.
