Take a 2-hour guided tour of the fishing harbour of Barcelona with a marine biologist and discover an iconic and hidden place between land and sea.
Experience the work of fishermen and a fish auction in person; learn about Mediterranean biodiversity and maritime traditions; and discover how to team up with Ocean conservation becoming a responsible, fish consumer.
This exclusive Tour offers you the opportunity of visiting Barcelona's fishing harbour, otherwise closed to visitors. The tour will provide you with an unusual perspective of the city and its essence as a coastal town -almost a secret place between land and sea, hidden to the average tourist.
Your Tour Guide is a marine biologist who will introduce you to the daily life of fishermen and will take you to visit their workspace as they fix and sew their nets or disembark the freshly-caught fish to join the auction. At the harbour, local restaurants and food shops await to buy the fish and bring it to the market and the consumer. During the auction, your Tour Guide will share information about the most popular Mediterranean fish species and on the local marine biodiversity; about the different fishing techniques and about local traditions and gastronomy. The Tour ends under the iconic 1772 clock tower -a former lighthouse that was used as a reference point to set the metric system, as well as to design the modern urban planning of Barcelona.
