What to expect?

Surfing the Causeway Coast

Let Hanno, Catherine, Hannah and Nick take you surfing on the amazing Causeway Coast. All our instructors are also qualified beach lifeguards and have numerous years of experience in providing fun, informative and safe lessons. Each session lasts for two hours and includes all equipment, changing facilities, warm showers and a snack and drink for afterward.

After a quick warm up you will learn about beach safety, paddle techniques, board control, how to pop up to your feet and how to stand on your board. But don't worry if you find it hard to get to your feet straight away - even lying on your board and feeling the rush of the waves around you while gliding to the beach is a fantastic and rewarding experience. We look forward to welcoming you.

I had my surf lesson today with Hanno from Alive surf school, I've been wanting to try for a long time but never got around to it and i have to say I'm really pleased i chose these guys for my first experience. - Cormac O

Alive Surf School

Alive is the longest running surf school in Northern Ireland with a special focus on sustainability. We offer Surf and Stand Up Paddle lessons.

We believe surfing is a sport for absolutely everybody no matter age, shape, size or fitness. Our classes are suitable for kids from five years and upwards, there is no upper age limit, our record is a 72 year old and we hope we can break that record this year! Alive also runs regular classes for people with learning difficulties and from the Autism Spectrum. We are passionate about our unique ocean environment and include educational information about sustainability and beach safety into our programme to raise Ocean knowledge and awareness. We are also very proud to be able to say that we now use 100% recyclable surfboards, with the continuous goal to improve our ecological footprint. We are currently working on implementing further sustainable criteria from the ECG (Economy for the Common Good) and will become certified soon.
